5 things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving

A typical Thanksgiving Day is when a family is getting ready for a feast with all near and dear ones under one roof. There are so much laughter and joy, and so much pre-planning and preparation. The year 2020 has changed the celebration but not the thanksgiving exercise. We have so much to be thankful for despite the pandemic. Here the top 5 that we can convey our gratitude to.

Family, Food & Health

Family is the foundation for all and it the world that operates us and we evolve and grow within it. Surrounded by loving people and having food on the table for all meals is a great blessing. Coupled with food, having good health without any complaints is a major gift. Let’s be thankful for the healthy and happy living this 2020.

Frontline Workers & Teachers

The innumerable doctors, nurses, paramedics, hygiene workers, and personal support workers have put so much on the line to protect our health and help us live in peace. Not just these staff, but suppliers of daily essential who gave us a sense of normality and put food on the table each time. While life was not normal each day, teachers kept the children motivated, safe, and on task with either in-class or online sessions despite the uncertain times. This has given some breathing space for work from home parents.

Technology and the Internet

Technology is the backbone for many businesses, and this has let at least 30% of the world population working in the IT and ITES sectors to work from home. This is indeed a blessing, allowing you to have a job and an income to feed and live. Without the internet nothing exists nowadays, with the lockdown extending each month, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime, and social media became the only source of entertainment with social distancing.

Sports & Passion

With slow relaxation in the lockdown conditions, many of us first headed out for a walk, jog, and visiting nearby places. Sport is a main source of stressbuster and the return of live sports Like IPL, NBAs, etc helps us witness the same emotion as we would in person at the stadium. Many were able to rekindle their passion for their long-lost skills – like painting, wood carving, music, and much more.

It is rightful to raise a toast for those who have kept us safe, healthy and entertained throughout this year. Enjoy a safe Thanksgiving celebration and remember to retrospect the best and bright things of this year.

Diwali, diwali gift, diwali celebrtion

Diwali – a time to get your brands to reach a multitude

Diwali, get your brands to the homes of your audience with custom gifts and let them do all the talking. This time of the year stirs up festivity in the air, and everyone is geared to don their best dress and is looking forward to loads of celebration and togetherness. The habitual gifting ceremony accompanies every celebration. While gifting is traditional in many places, the practice of corporate gifting follows a particular trend.

Beginning from clients and business partners to well-wishers and employees – gifting is not just a gesture of celebration and acknowledgment but is also an opportunity to emphasize your brand. Deciding on the perfect gift is no lesser than a comprehensive study. This Diwali gets away from the traditional thought and progress into an innovative corporate gifting idea. Think of corporate gifts that will not just be mementos in the living room but will be part of daily living.

For the key players in the company – Boss, Client, Employees – Aim at something classy and elegant and would be part of their daily activity. A personalized coffee mug, cushions, indoor plants, and much more. It is necessary to have your brand logo etched in a very distinct way to get the attention of people. You need not have the logo as the main picture, it may lead to setting aside the gift as a showpiece, let the logo be in a corner or thoughtfully placed.

Personalized greetings and ethnic souvenirs are one of the traditional gifting options. If your clients are out of your country region, you may choose country specific gifts that not only signify the country’s pride but also carry your brand across the globe.

Few things to note – make sure your brand has enough identity and is unique. Your brand logo must be simple but highly effective. Use simple language on greetings and cards. It is advisable to seek the assistance of a creative team to have a splendid Diwali.

Diwali – Perfect time to light up your business venture

Be it a start-up or not, Diwali can be your launchpad to set your business venture.

It’s yet another time of the year, where you can see festivity lifting spirits and everyone’s beginning to switch on the celebration mode. Indian festival of lights is back and yes, it is considered the most auspicious season to light up your venture. India is one of the most desired markets for many start-ups, it is just behind the US and UK as per a report by Nasscom-ZINNOV.

Start-ups are quite unique and innovative, where the approach to a business idea is to just think and apply a simple and effective way of doing a daily routine differently. To name a few, Uber – your daily taxi, Zomato, or Swiggy – your feeding aid. What’s more, an adverse situation like this pandemic brings out the most innovative opportunities. While you explore more on it, here are a few tips to uplift your existing venture.

Defeat the 10-headed Ravana

Yes, you heard it right, kill the weaknesses that thrive in your business – could be the business concept, approach to customers, the process, the people, anything. Time to sit back and wear the customer cap on – what pleases you or what annoys you. Is the partnership really required, do you have the right roadmap? Take bold decisions to get the RIGHT GOING.

For a startup, research forms the foundation and gives wings to ideas to stand the test of time. Always look for ideas backed with facts and data; you can never go wrong with data around. Always invest time and resources in proper research to do a feasibility check.

Branding your brand

You need recognition to run the race. Rangoli’s of the festive season inspire and remind us of the importance of brand and design. The craze for Apple besides other key players is its aesthetic appeal right from the product design to the marketing appeal. Create a list of things that define your brand and formulate how you will reach the world. You may need to think of logo designing, website restructuring, and some social media remodeling.

Take Mentoring and Support

You aren’t a Jack of all Trades; you need a strong pillar of support to course-correct your actions – think of mentorship. Your ideas need as much support as you do, have the right combination of support functions, from creative design support to delivery teams. It is a perfect amalgamation of many that stand on the ideal foundation that helps you move from a STARTUP.

Choosing Kamala Harris puts Identity at the heart of the Presidential elections

Kamala Harris is an experienced leader. She is the first African-American, and the first Asian-American to be a part of the presidential elections. At the same time, the choice of Harris speaks of the ‘American Dream’.

She hails from Jamaica and is the daughter of two immigrant parents. Her father is an economics professor from Jamaica, and her mother is from India. She is a progressive candidate and many like this partnership between Biden and Harris.

Biden mostly relies on the votes of immigrants, Africa-American crowd to be precise. He also thinks female voters might be on his side. Harris may not increase the support percentage; however, she does assure the voters to go ahead and vote for Biden. After Biden chose Harris to be his running mate, the game changed completely. This race is of the most awaited elections in the recent past.

Few Things Trump can Teach Us About Leadership

Donald Trump is a well-known business personality and also popular for his proven leadership. In the mid-2000s, America witnessed a rising popularity of Donald Trump in the real estate world, hospitality industry, and other corporations. He is now the President of one of the strongest countries in the world. In the year 2016, Trump won the Presidential elections against Hillary Clinton, a democratic candidate.

There are qualities of Trump people hate, but there is also a leadership side to him that people admire. Here’s a list of five qualities of Donald Trump you may not know.

  • Quick, Smart Decisions

While everyone demanded for more COVID tests to be done across the country, the President chose to close the borders to China completely. One might argue about the intention here, but if you think about it, Trump stopped the incoming population carrying the virus. At that point, this was a wise decision to make.

The lesson to learn here is one must make decisions with intention and strategy.

  • Taking Help

One doesn’t know it all. Sometimes, even the most powerful people accept they need help. Donald Trump never hesitated to take help from experts in the field when a pandemic hit the globe. It’s important to listen and act accordingly. Trump took the required steps after hearing out the health care experts.

Leadership needs counsel too. It’s a proven fact that leaders often accomplish positive results when they have experts guiding them. Limited knowledge may lead to hasty decisions that may affect the community’s well-being.

  • Believing in Your Team

Being a leader, Donald Trump never wasted his time micromanaging. Trump believes in letting his team work and resolve issues at the earliest. He believes in their work and takes feedback from experts on matters.

Leaders should always trust and choose a team of people who can work independently without being micromanaged. Communication and listening skills are vital for the progress of the country.

  • Not Hesitating to Show Up

When there is praise, everyone wants to attend meetings and conferences. When a crisis hits, leaders usually avoid giving an explanation. Trump, however, did not hesitate to answer all the press questions and clarify any doubts people might have. Showing your face when people need you the most is something Donald Trump is known for.

  • Understanding the chain of events

Donald Trump was worried about the labor class who would be affected by this pandemic. He knew total lockdowns would affect the working class the most. He was not ready to let his people suffer and take a decision that would be comfortable for the upper working class. He knew there are single parents and daily wagers who need a job in hand every day.

It’s not easy to be Donald Trump. He is, no doubt, one of the sharpest politicians in recent times. Now it’s time for us to see if his magic still lasts.

Kamala Harris and Her Silicon Valley Connections

Kamala Harris is the talk of the nation since Biden chose her to be his running mate. Well, the former district attorney of San Francisco is all excited about Google’s Silicon Valley campus. Harris believes in building strong relationships with the Google campus. She claims that she has always wanted to visit the campus for over a year.

Kamala Harris has a successful run as a senate and holds a failed bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. For all her election campaigns, she depended on donations from Silicon Valley. Her friends, family, and former political connections are all over the tech world.

Silicon Valley enjoyed a breezy journey with the White House under the Presidentship of Barack Obama. As vice president of the democratic party, Harris will rarely be setting up the policies. However, the critics believe that she will have a strong say in the tech policies set during Biden’s administration.

Tech companies see this as good news as they consider Harris to be one of their own. Silicon Valley has been backing Harris by raining money against their Republican opponents. John Doerr and Ron Conway are some of the big names on the list of donors.

Later, other tech giants like Sheryl Sandberg, Jony Ive, and Marc Benioff donated to Harris’s reelection campaign.

In 2013, Laurene Powell Jobs hosted a fundraiser for Kamala Harris at her Palo Alto home. It was also noticed that Harris attended Sean Parker’s wedding.

Her circle of friends and family is a part of the tech industry. A former senior counsel of Harris, Lartease Tiffith, works in the privacy and security department of Amazon. Rebecca Porcan ran the first campaign for Harris. She is currently managing government affairs for Google in California. Harris’ brother-in-law is the chief legal officer for Uber. Apart from being a politician, she shares a mutual bond with the tech industry.

5 reasons Why Donald Trump Might Win in the 2020 Elections

Donald Trump was a well-known businessman before he became the President of the United States. 2016 elections were surprising to Democrats and a sweeping win to Donald Trump. But many already knew that Donald Trump was going to win the 2016 elections. However, 2020 is a whole different story for Donald Trump. His obstacles are way higher than the 2016 elections. Critics believe that the current President of the United States can win but the path is narrow and difficult. Many have faith in his beliefs and his plans for America, and there are others who think otherwise. Though polls suggest Democratic candidate Joe Biden winning the race, there are still chances of Donald Trump winning.

How We Think Donald Trump Might Win

  • The “law-and-order” president branding has the potential to win many hearts. Many fear the 1968 Nixon strategy is going to play its role again. This led to the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy and included the Vietnam War.

  • Trump’s open support to white voters may be working. While Biden wants to build low-income housing communities in the suburbs. Donald Trump appealed to the suburban folks by alerting them about the lower property values and increased crimes. This surely will work on the silent majority who wouldn’t want the lower-income crowd coming to the suburbs.

  • Donald Trump recently said that his private polls show data that he’s leading this year’s election campaign. So, there is a chance that the polls are not believable anymore.

  • Donald Trump and his buddies are deliberately planning to slow down the mail delivery. This way the votes don’t get counted on time.

  • Biden’s history and COVID-19 easing can be a positive go for Trump this year.

Dollars behind the US Presidential Elections

It’s no surprise that the elections cost a lot of money. Yes, you have campaigns, rallies, and other marketing gimmicks that help the parties reach a wider audience. When a candidate stands for an election, he/she will work towards the progress of the country. America has a mix of cultures and communities. Every community has its own expectations. But the bigger picture here is to progress as a country. This means better jobs, better salaries, better healthcare, and a better education system.

Funding for elections comes from three major sources. The first one is an individual contribution. Each American citizen contributes up to 2800 dollars during Presidential elections. All major parties will have a political action committee (PAC) that works on the marketing campaigns and more. They raise funds from businessmen or influential people. The final part of the funding is through corporations and labor unions.

Statistics show that George W Bush spent 345 million dollars during his winning elections. Barack Obama spent 730 million dollars in 2008 and 1.14 billion dollars in 2012 respectively. Donald Trump spent 460 million dollars in 2016.

Because there is no limit on time or amount, this has become an expensive affair. A candidate or a party can start promotions way before the elections and spend as much money as they want to. There is no actual limit on spending.

This pandemic, Forbes research suggests that both Donald Trump and Joe Biden spent more on digital advertising than on radio or television. Started off with 5 million dollars, Trump’s campaign has reached 15 million dollars by the end of August 2020. Whereas Biden touched 10 million dollars at the end of August.
