Choosing Kamala Harris puts Identity at the heart of the Presidential elections

Kamala Harris is an experienced leader. She is the first African-American, and the first Asian-American to be a part of the presidential elections. If Democratic candidate, Joe Biden, wins the 2020 November Presidential Elections, that makes her the first female vice-president. Holding national, state, and city-level credentials make Harris an important figure for sure. Harris has been in the limelight since the protest she held against the building owner at the age of 13. Liberal candidates across the country are hooting for Harris.

Harris also represents the multi-racial community that marks as a rapidly growing sector in the US population. The brutal killing of George Floyd and the racial injustice that followed recently has created tension in America. Many Americans were out on the streets protesting for racial equality. At the same time, the choice of Harris speaks of the ‘American Dream’.

She hails from Jamaica and is the daughter of two immigrant parents. Her father is an economics professor from Jamaica, and her mother is from India. She is a progressive candidate and many like this partnership between Biden and Harris.

Biden mostly relies on the votes of immigrants, Africa-American crowd to be precise. He also thinks female voters might be on his side. Harris may not increase the support percentage; however, she does assure the voters to go ahead and vote for Biden. After Biden chose Harris to be his running mate, the game changed completely. This race is of the most awaited elections in the recent past.

5 reasons Why Donald Trump Might Win in the 2020 Elections

Donald Trump was a well-known businessman before he became the President of the United States. 2016 elections were surprising to Democrats and a sweeping win to Donald Trump. But many already knew that Donald Trump was going to win the 2016 elections. However, 2020 is a whole different story for Donald Trump. His obstacles are way higher than the 2016 elections. Critics believe that the current President of the United States can win but the path is narrow and difficult. Many have faith in his beliefs and his plans for America, and there are others who think otherwise. Though polls suggest Democratic candidate Joe Biden winning the race, there are still chances of Donald Trump winning.

How We Think Donald Trump Might Win

  • The “law-and-order” president branding has the potential to win many hearts. Many fear the 1968 Nixon strategy is going to play its role again. This led to the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy and included the Vietnam War.

  • Trump’s open support to white voters may be working. While Biden wants to build low-income housing communities in the suburbs. Donald Trump appealed to the suburban folks by alerting them about the lower property values and increased crimes. This surely will work on the silent majority who wouldn’t want the lower-income crowd coming to the suburbs.

  • Donald Trump recently said that his private polls show data that he’s leading this year’s election campaign. So, there is a chance that the polls are not believable anymore.

  • Donald Trump and his buddies are deliberately planning to slow down the mail delivery. This way the votes don’t get counted on time.

  • Biden’s history and COVID-19 easing can be a positive go for Trump this year.

Brand Building Behind the Name DONALD TRUMP

Not many know this, but Trump has had his roller coaster ride in the business world. From owning his own airline to bankruptcy, Donald Trump is known for both his achievements and disasters in the business world. He is one of the very few people in the world who is making money by branding his own name. The name Trump clearly holds a lot of value in the American market. Some call him a master brander. He was focused on selling his name to different premium products across the globe.

Donald Trump isn’t known for his political career, but he is well-known as a business brand. His name was popular in America way before he became the president. Because of his charm and brand name, he got into the oval office swiftly. Now, there’s a lot of brand building work going on behind the name of Trump.

Roger Khafif owned a prime oceanfront real estate property that was licensed under the name Trump. While Roger Khafif, the owner of the property, suffered losses, Trump made money from licensing and property management. Despite such issues, the residents have not removed Trump’s name from the property. Till date, Trump’s name seems to work like a charm and attracts new customers.

While Trump doesn’t own a large number of his own properties, he licenses his name to many developers and property owners. Let’s take Manhattan for instance. Donald Trump owns only five properties in the city; however, his name is on 17 properties.

While good things are happening with Trump’s name on it, there are properties that recently got filed for bankruptcy. Trump Ocean Club, Trump International Golf Club in Puerto Rico are some other properties filed for bankruptcy in July after accumulating millions of dollars in debt. Trump licensed his name without risking any money. Trump has made a fortune with his name alone. According to a survey conducted in 2014, Donald Trump’s net worth is 8.7 billion dollars. Nearly 40% of his net income comes from real estate branding and other deals. The licensing bit brings him about 30 to 50 million dollars of revenue. The Trump name is associated with both shine and debt at the same time. The upcoming elections will tell us if Donald Trump is worth another shot or not.

How Will Indian Americans Vote?

The long-awaited 2020 presidential election in the United States is approaching soon enough. Indian Americans account for more than one percent of the total population in the country. This year, the major parties are leaving no stone unturned in reaching out to the Indian American community.

This sudden turn of events is mostly connected to the selection of Kamala Harris as the running partner of Joe Biden. Well, Kamala Harris has a partial Indian origin, and this has led to a strong attachment of Indian Americans to the Democratic Party. Surveys show that the selection of Kamala Harris does in fact play a role in the voting behavior. Over 40 percent of Indian Americans agreed that they were considering voting for the Joe Biden Democratic party after the entry of Kamala Harris, whereas, about 10 percent said it made them not want to vote for the democratic party. About 40 percent stayed neutral and said that Kamala Harris plays no role in their voting decision.

Indian Americans are focusing more on the healthcare and economic situations of the U.S. and paying less attention to the India-America political relationship. In the last two decades, the Indian American population has increased by 150 percent. This makes Indians the second-largest immigrant group in the United States today.

Remember that the November 2020 elections are held right in the middle of a health pandemic. Like every other country in the world, America is also facing an economic crisis. Economists claim that they haven’t seen America in such a bad spot since the Great Depression. The percentage of Indians preferring Biden over Trump is higher. The Hindu and Muslim population supporting Biden is higher than the Christians. Every year, 150,000 Indian Americans get their voting rights. Some of these are through naturalization and the remaining are the children of Indian immigrants residing in the United States. The most important point to note this year is that the focus of the Indian American population is only on the bread and butter of the entire American population. The community is behaving in sync with the rest of the American population and wants to see progress in terms of healthcare and the economy.
